Kammarmusikfestival
2023

Arkipelag Chamber Music Festival 2023 took place between 16 and 18 July in Vaxholm Church, eight prominent musicians from Sweden, Denmark and Norway participated in three concerts. The festival opened with a concert for string quartet that mixed folk music, newly written music by Caroline Shaw and a romantic quartet by Amanda Maier-Röntgen. This was followed by the concert "Hembygdhälsning" with Swedish folk and classical music performed by the violin and piano duo Duo Qlara. The festival ended with a concert that mixed jazz and folk music. The repertoire for the festival was varied and included music from Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Norway.

 

Among the prominent works were music by Amanda Maier-Röntgen and Hugo Alfvén, a Danish wedding march arranged by the Danish String Quartet, and Norwegian and Icelandic folk tunes. A large part of the music on the program was written by female composers, including works by Caroline Shaw, Amanda Maier-Röntgen, Ika Peyron and Sara Wennerberg-Reuter.
